More about Buttermilk
Mood:  not sure

So now that the decision has been made, the planning has begun!  Micah and I met with some people from Mastiff Rescue of Midwest today to become foster parents!  It went really well, it's so nice to meet other people who care about this breed and share the same beliefs re: how dogs should be cared for.  We told them about the puppy so we will let them know when our house settles down a bit and we are ready for our first foster.  So exciting!!!

So afterward we went to Petco and started puppy shopping.  This was the best part of the day.  We got her a little binkie and some other stuff.  It was funny b/c I was looking at all the black leashes and collars and Micah said "should we get pink?"  We have never had a female dog so it was so weird to get her pink stuff but lots of fun!!  We are so excited!

Then came the news that our puppy would not be here in our area until March 15th ):  We were sad all over again.  But, we are working with the rescue and it looks like she will be able to get her here sooner and we are so appreciative.  We just want her here NOW!!  So, we will keep you all posted on Buttermilk..or Vanilla Bean...or Blanket...

Buttermilk
Mood:  bright
Well, this is my first blog entry in many to follow chronicling our decision to get a new puppy.  Many of you know that Micah and I lost our beloved Mastiff Bender a couple of weeks ago to Cancer.  Bender was only 4 years old and the loss is devastating.  We have gone back and forth trying to decide if we should wait and only have one dog, become foster parents, or get a puppy.  Our home is very quiet with just one dog (Chopper, our Great Dane) and we realize we need some more joy and energy around the house!  We know that a puppy will bring this and so the decision was made to get a puppy AND become foster parents   We have a home study tomorrow through Midwest Mastiff Rescue and have put a deposit down on Buttermilk, a Mastiff/American Bulldog mix from Mama Dori's Rescue in Hannibal, MO.  We hope to get the puppy next week and the foster dog (s) once she is comfortable in our home.  We are very excited but also realizing our lives will again change dramatically with the pup in the house.  This will be our first female dog as well so it will be a new challenge.  I will keep you all posted on all the fun to come...
